MTS Centre

The MTS Centre is the newest multi-purpose entertainment and sports facility in the heart of Winnipeg. The centre replaced the demolished Winnipeg Area upon its opening in 2004. The 440,000 sq ft building is home to the Winnipeg Jets National Hockey League team with a seating capacity of 15,004.

The building's excellent acoustics make it an ideal location for concerts. Bon Jovi's 2007 performance at the centre was the largest event since its opening, with more than 16,000 fans in attendance. Royal Canadian Mint

The Royal Canadian Mint's high-volume manufacturing facility in Winnipeg is where all Canadian circulating coins are produced. The Winnipeg plant opened in 1976, after the Mint headquarters in Ottawa, became established in 1908. Over 1 billion circulation coins are produced here each year.

The Manitoba Museum

The Manitoba Museum is a definite must-see, while in Winnipeg. The museum showcases over 2.6 million specimens and artifacts, along with the Planetarium and Science Gallery. University of Manitoba

The University of Manitoba was founded in 1877 in Winnipeg, four years after the city was founded. The university began awarding degrees from St. John's College, St. Boniface College and Manitoba College, the three founding colleges. In 1904, the university hired its first staff and construction on the buildings began shortly thereafter.

The 25,000 students attending the University, have a choice of 90 degrees, certificates and diplomas at the undergraduate and graduate level. The university unveiled Smartpark, a 100-acre technology and research park, in 1999. The university continues to grow and develop with projects to utilize older buildings and revitalize the campus. Winnipeg Railway Museum
